Ed Nicholson claimed victory in the Harrogate Nova 10, near Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire on Saturday.

The York Cycleworks rider completed the course in a time of 21.10, the best time amongst the field of 67 starters.

Forty-year old Nicholson, now in the veteran’s category, finished with a 14-second winning margin over his teammate Richard Sharp who was second.

Team Swift’s Mark Wolstenholme was just two seconds further back at 21.26, completing the top three.

Mark Perry’s time of 21.41, was good enough for fifth place overall, and was second in the veteran’s category, won by Nicholson.

Eleanor Haresign, of host team Harrogate Nova, was the fastest woman on the course.

Her time of 24.42 was some 40 seconds clear of Fiona Sharp, also of York Cycleworks, who finished second.

Joe Howcroft (PH-MAS cycling) posted a time of 23.11, which was not only good enough for leading junior, but also for a respectable 20th place finish in the overall standings.
