Rob Pears of Bath Cycling Club took victory at the Chippenham and District Wheelers 25 on the U86 at Malmesbury, Wiltshire on Sunday.
Pears took victory by 21 seconds from runner-up Richard Simmonds (Look Mum No Hands!) on the course that snakes around Crudwell, Brinkworth and Ballards Ash.
The Bristol rider was building on a third-place finish last time out at the Hemel Hempstead CC, putting clear daylight between himself and Simmonds who himself was building on a third-place finish at the Bynea CC.
Jay Hookins (Offcamber) took third-place with a time of 56.48, which gave him a comfortable cushion over Steve Cottington of Bath Cycling Club who finished back in fourth on 58.08 and Martin Lines of Worcester St Johns CC who made a time of 58.42.
Cottington’s fourth-place finish was enough to make him the fastest veteran, whilst Karen Michelle Spiteri of Salt & Sham CC was the fastest woman finisher with a time of 01.09.51.
