North Lancs CC rider Steve Irwin took his latest win in the 25-mile Preston CC event held on Sunday.

Due to the L2525 turn layby being closed at the moment, the event was held on the L2521A course instead.

The roads used have lots of twists and turns with poor surface in places. It was no surprise to see Irwin, who broke the course record with a 53.17 earlier in the season, take the victory but he also broke the record again, topping the standings with a time of 52.46.

Breaking the course record by 31 seconds made it difficult for anyone to get near him and second-place Dave Allonby of Springfield Financial got closest, 1.51 down on Irwin’s time.

Allonby’s team mate, Derek Parkinson, was third in 55.02. Theresa Taylor (Preston CC) was the fastest woman in 1:08.55 and Elliot Reed of Identity RT won the junior prize with 1:01.36.
