Seventh in the 2015 event, Jon Wynn (T1 Diabetes.info) stormed to victory in the 2016 edition of the CC Blaenau Gwent 25-mile time trial near Usk in Wales on Sunday.

The 49-year-old was 17 seconds slower than 12 months previously, but did enough to take a deserved victory with 50.58 in challenging conditions with Ioan Smallwood (Cardiff Ajax CC) second, the 33-year-old clocking 51.47 to secure another podium finish following a win in the previous day’s Port Talbot Wheelers 10.

Conrad Moss (Mid-Devon CC) finished third again just as he did in 2015, but this time was over two and a half minutes slower with 51.59.

Mark Corbett (Worcester St Johns CC) was fourth with 52.20, 22 seconds ahead of fifth-placed Anthony Mark Jones (Bynea CC), while Ben Anstie (73 Degrees Bicycles) had to settle for sixth with 52.46 following fourth spot in the 2015 event when he was more than two minutes quicker.

VC St Raphael’s Josh Griffiths clocked 58.02 and was the fastest junior with 29th overall.
