James Gullen showed his class as he broke the course and event record for the L101 in Garstang, Lancashire, previously set by Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Cool but dry conditions allowed for a good day of cycling and it was Gullen who took full advantage, flying round in an incredible time of 19.17. This was enough to take seven seconds off the 19.24 time set by Wiggins.

Gullen, 26 and from Leeds, was by far the quickest on the day with Dave Allonby (Springfield Financial) being next best with a time of 20.27 – 1.10 off Gullen’s pace.

Identity Race Team rider Jake Wright completed the podium, finishing third with a time of 21.14, almost two minutes slower than Gullen.
