Saturday saw the annual running of Birdwell Wheelers’ Open 25-mile time at Hatfield Woodhouse near Doncaster.

A field of 48 riders braved chilly temperatures and a strong headwind on the last leg from Blaxton.

Overall it proved a very good day for the organising club as Dan Taylor continued his good form by recording the fastest time of the day in 53.57 and received the South Yorkshire Times trophy.  

Julian Ramsbottom (Pedal Pushers RT) was second in 54.46 and third place was taken by Darryl Wall of Out of the Saddle CC with a time of 55.05.

Another Birdwell Wheeler, 15-year-old Tom Booth, was fastest juvenile in 1:03.07. Fastest woman was Karen Ledger (Langsett Cycles RT) in 59.00.

The team prize for three-rider teams also went to the organising club with the trio of Dan Taylor, Trevor Mayne and Paul Mason combining to make an aggregate time of 2:48.35.
