Description

Event HQ: Raskelf Village Hall. The headquarters are situated south of Raskelf on Raskelf Road leading to Easingwold and are 2 miles from the start. Course V275: Start on Raskelf Lane approximately 1.85 miles East of Helperby and 1.75 miles West of Raskelf at east end of metalled entrance to double gate opposite the end of the wooden fencing, 129’ west of telephone pole marked 10 on the south side of the road. Proceed towards Raskelf (Three Tuns Pub) Bear left and proceed to junction of A19 (Raskelf Lane End) Turn Left onto A19 and continue north to Blakey Lane (left turn from A19, towards slip-road to A168 west) Continue along slip-road to join the A168 westbound carriageway to slip-road to Topcliffe (13.21 miles) Bear left down slip-road, pass under A168 dual carriageway where right (with care) up the slip-road to join the A168. Continue on A168/A19 to slip-road leading to A684 (Northallerton) (27.74 miles) Bear left down slip-road, left again (give way) to pass under A19 dual carriageway, continue left to join A19 southbound carriageway South on A19/A168 to slip-road leading to Topcliffe (42.76 miles) Bear left down slip-road, pass under A168 dual carriageway where right (with care) up the slip-road to join the A168. Continue on A168/A19 to slip-road leading to A684 (Northallerton) (57.26 miles) Bear left down slip-road, left again (give way) to pass under A19 dual carriageway, continue left to join A19 southbound carriageway South on A19/A168 to slip-road leading to Topcliffe (72.28 miles) Continue along the road, under the A168 through Topcliffe (Long Street), cross R.Swale and through Asenby to junction with Whaites Lane Turn left, over A168 dual carriageway, through Cundall (cross R.Swale – riders have priority over bridge) to Brafferton. At T-junction (Oak Tree Pub), turn left and continue to Raskelf (Three Tuns Pub). Bear left and proceed to junction of A19 (Raskelf Lane End) Turn Left onto A19 and continue north to Blakey Lane (left turn from A19, towards slip-road to A168 west) Continue along slip-road to join the A168 westbound carriageway to slip-road to Topcliffe (93.25 miles) Continue along the road, under the A168 through Topcliffe (Long Street), cross R.Swale and through Asenby to junction with Whaites Lane Turn left, over A168 dual carriageway, through Cundall (cross R.Swale – riders have priority over bridge) to Brafferton. At T-junction (Oak Tree Pub), turn left to Finish 470’ west of start at west end of entrance gate entrance blocked by tree trunk. Use of Motor Vehicles: Events over 100km - “Regulation 22(c) – use of motor vehicles – defines the assistance a competitor may receive from a vehicle and its occupants along the course. Competitors and their helpers should read, understand, and obey it”. Vehicle registration form enclosed – completed forms must be lodged with the Event Secretary not later than the start time of the competitor. Feeding: Please note that food will not be supplied during the event. There must be NO FEEDING on the A168/A19 dual carriageway. This road is a “Clearway”. On the single carriageway sections of the course drive and park with consideration for other road user, and competitors when stopping to feed etc. No breakable bottles to be used, and all food etc. only to be handed up by persons on foot. Please pick up any litter. Caution: As the course comprises 2 circuits, each covered two times, there will be some overlapping of riders. There will be Observers out on the course. Any reports of accompanied riding (See Reg.21) may result in disqualification of the riders involved, or possible further disciplinary action. The onus lies with the overtaken rider to drop back in order to avoid accompanied riding. Topcliffe: Riders should pay particular attention at the Topcliffe underpass (under A168 DC. Riders go through this underpass a total of 4 times. The first 2 times riders should TURN RIGHT to join the A168/A19 northbound carriageway to Thirsk, and Ellerbeck. The 3rd and 4th times riders should go straight on (A167) down Long Street,, through Topcliffe village to complete the smaller circuits. Take care to take the correct route – do not necessarily follow a rider just in front of you, they may be on a different lap to you. TAKE CARE if making the right turns here, or when passing through Topcliffe village. There will be cars parked on both sides of the road, and also stopping at the General Store/Paper shop on your left hand side, half way down the main street. IN THE INTERESTS OF YOUR OWN SAFETY Cycling Time Trials and the event promoters strongly advise you to wear a HARD SHELL HELMET that meets an internationally accepted safety standard. In accordance with Regulation 15 ALL JUNIOR competitors must wear Protective Hard Shell Helmets. It is recommended that a working rear light, either flashing or constant, is fitted to the machine in a position visible to following road users and is active whilst the machine is in use.
