A short and sharp shock to the system early on Saturday morning sees 73 riders entered for the Cestria CC event over nine miles.

Taking place over two laps of a squared route near Great Lumley in the North East, Jack Rees (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) starts as scratch man looking for a first open win of the season.

Teri Bayliss (Sub Rosa) has tough opposition in the women’s event and faces Sarah Minto (North Tyneside Riders CC) and Sarah Wilkinson (Blaydon CC) amongst others.

After finishing second over 100 miles earlier this month Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) will be hoping to go one better when he starts as scratch man in the Bike-Pace 50 in South Wales.

Taking place over two laps between Abergavenny and Monmouth on the A40 other challengers include Harry Loader (Mid Devon CC) and Tom Cox (Saint Piran) amongst others.

A quality women’s field contains 12 riders and sees Tina Reid (VC De Londres) start as last woman but she will face competition from Michelle Lee (PDQ Cycle Coaching), Lizi Duncombe (Socks4Watts Race Team) and Jo Buckland (FTP Fulfil The Potential Racing).

Over 100 riders will be hoping for quick weather conditions when they compete in Saturday afternoon’s ECCA Championships 10 on the E2/10 course near Cambridge.

Veteran Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) starts as last man after a run of six podium places without a win this season.

Meanwhile, veteran Sue Rust (Kettering CC) is amongst the women’s field and Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC) is amongst her rivals.

After winning eight out of nine events so far this season Oliver Peckover (SwiftCarbon Pro Cycling) will be looking to add to his tally in Saturday’s Leicestershire Road Club 10.

William Perrett (AeroLab Ward WheelZ) could provide tough opposition in his first solo event of the season after finishing third in last weekend’s National Team Time Trial Championships last weekend.

Michelle Morley (Swift Racing) will start as last woman but faces Denise Burrows (AeroCoach), Jennifer Clegg (Team Bottrill) and Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC).

The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz duo Alex Clay and Christopher Fennell will be hoping for men’s and women’s victories in Sunday’s VTTA 10 on the Q10/30.

VeloRefined Rule 5 duo Andrew Meilak and Kevin Tye will be looking to challenge the recently crowned National Circuit Champion in the men’s event.

Minute men Samuel Wadsley (Primera-Teamjobs) and Simon Alexander (Richardsons-Trek RT) will go head-to-head in the Poole Wheelers 10, while Louisa Cooper (Bournemouth Jubilee Whs) is last woman away.

Steve Lampier (Saint Piran) has won six events on the bounce in the South West so far this season and will look to continue his dominance in the Giant Helston 25.

Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers CC) has also been in fine form and will be looking for women’s honours on the S100/25 near Bodmin.

Battle is set to commence in the North East on Sunday in the Houghton CC 25 out and back along the M254 near Ponteland.

Lewis Wake (Team Kirkley Cycles) won the Vector Racing 25 on the same course last weekend clocking 52-26 on that occasion.

He will face a host of riders including professional cyclo-cross rider Thomas Mein (Canyon Dhb SunGod) who starts as scratch man.

Team Kirkley Cycles riders Miriam Jessett and Joanne Rea will be amongst the challengers in the women’s event.

Fresh from winning gold in the UCI Para-cycling World Championships in the time trial as a tandem pilot Adam Duggleby (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) is due to ride Sunday’s Drighlington BC 25.

Taking place on the V236/1 near Thirsk some 115 riders are due to compete for honours including Alexander Royle (Manchester Bicycle Club) and Marcel Schubert (Darlington Cycling Club).

Meanwhile, in the women’s event Sandra Burrows (Vive Le Velo) will be targeting another victory.

After riding to fifth in last weekend’s National Team Time Trial Championships, GTR-Return To Life team-mates Douglas Watson and Chris Smart will battle it out for victory in Sunday’s Velo Club Cumbria 25.

They will have competition from over 100 riders on the L2511 between Cockermouth and Keswick.

Deborah Moss (Team Merlin) is the last woman away in a field which includes Erica Booth (Lancashire RC) amongst others.

Veteran Angela Carpenter (...a3crg) has been on fine form in recent weeks and will be looking to continue that in Sunday afternoon’s C.C Breckland 50.

Frances Owen (Fibrax Wrexham RC) has been equally as impressive this season posting 4-12-46 in the West Wales Cyclists’ League 100.

Joe Skipper (Team Skipper) starts as scratch rider while Tom Hutchinson (Team Bottrill) will also be targeting victory.
