Irwin Mitchell Partner With Cycling Time Trials On The 2020 National Hill Climb Championships

Iconic Cycling Event In Berkshire For Classic Hill Climb Course In October

National law firm Irwin Mitchell has been named as the headline sponsor of the 2020 RTTC National Hill Climb Championship taking place on Sunday 25 October in Streatley, Berkshire.

Promoted by Reading CC on behalf of London West DC, the sponsorship from Irwin Mitchell will contribute to the organisational costs, including fully closing the road. Such measures will ensure the safety of riders for this much loved and hugely popular event.

Attracting some of the finest UK riders, with professional riders mixing it with the top amateurs, this year will be the first time the Championship has been held in the area, which will take riders up Streatley Hill; a classic hill climb course.

The 2019 Championship in Haytor in Devon was won by pro riders Hayley Simmonds (women) and Ed Laverack (men) and the Streatley event is expected to draw a similar mix of passionate competitors to a uniquely British cycling competition. Entries close on 6 October.

CTT Chairman, Sheila Hardy said “Cycling Time Trials is delighted that a national firm like Irwin Mitchell has stepped forward to sponsor our National Hill Climb championship this year. This iconic event is one of our flagship championships, which attracts the best riders in the country.

The safety of all in attendance is of paramount importance to CTT and it is only with a fully closed road that this can be assured in these testing times. We are extremely grateful to Irwin Mitchell and offer them a huge thank you for their support and interest and we hope that we will be able to work with them in future years too.”

Peter Lorence, an associate at Irwin Mitchell and an experienced biker and cyclist himself, said: “It’s a pleasure to be sponsoring a big event like the National Hill Climb Championship during what is a difficult time for many sporting events following the nationwide lockdown.

“Cycling is great fun and an ever growing way for many of us to keep fit. We often support those who have been injured on our roads, so we are proud to be working with the organisers at CTT in delivering a safe event for all involved.

“Hosting the Championship is always a dream come true but an even bigger responsibility as we all get used to a new normal. This is a shorter course than 2019 but Streatley Hill is a tough climb that will provide a real challenge to the riders and deliver what promises to be a thrilling event.”
