Dan Bigham (Ribble Pro Cycling) set a new course record on his way to victory, as Emily Meakin (The Independent Pedaler) topped the women’s podium in the penultimate round of the Sigma Sport Classic Time Trial Series in Cumbria on Sunday.

Bigham clocked an impressive time of 1-00-11 for two laps of the circuit of Greystoke Forest, nearly four and a half minutes quicker than the previous mark despite varying conditions.

And Meakin was a convincing winner in the women’s category with a time of 36-21 across the 14-mile distance.

Bank Holiday Monday saw several events take place, and in the classic Anfield BC 100-mile event near Shawbury in Shropshire there was a new women’s course record set by Chris Murray (Army Cycling).

She clocked 4-11-07 to take the win, while fastest male was Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC) who covered the course in 3-39-44 on a breezy day to leave Andy Jackson (AeroCoach) second.

The evening before the fifth round of the Sigma Sports Classic Series in Cumbria, many rider took part in the Lancashire RC 10 at Levens.

Riders from The Independent Pedaler took victory in both the men’s and women’s races there, with Chris Fennell clocking 18-19 to beat Bigham into second by ten seconds, while Emily Meakin covered the course in 20-08.

In West Sussex on Monday, the McNamara brothers took a one-two in Brighton Mitre CC’s 10, with Simon (South Downs Bikes) clocking 19-42 for the win while Chris (Nuun-Sigma Sport) was ten seconds back in second. Anna Dwyer (Lewes Wanderers) was fastest female.

Brighton Mitre also staged a hilly ten on the nearby G10/97 course at Steyning, where Theo Tadros (trainSharp) was victorious by 34 seconds, with Katerina Avramides (Brighton Mitre CC) fastest female in 30-39.

Drag2Zero riders Liz Powell and Matthew Smith were fastest female and male riders respectively at the Lovelo Racing 50-mile time trial in Bedfordshire.

44-year-old Powell, who was part of the winning team in the 2018 national 10, 25, 50 and 100-mile title races, set a new course record for the F1b/50 near Tempsford with a time of 1-55-21.

And Smith clocked 1-40-46 to take the win by 1-17 from Ross Clarke (TMG Horizon).

Also over 50 miles, Simone Mitchell and Samuel Wadsley were fastest female and male riders respectively at the South District 50-Mile Championships near Lytchett Minster in Dorset on Sunday.

Staged by Wessex RC, the women’s South DC title went to Angela Carpenter (a3crg) who clocked 1-59-47, while Wadsley’s time was 1-47-54.

Double the distance, the Hounslow and District Wheelers 100 in Hampshire on Sunday was won by Mark Smith (Crawley Wheelers) in a time of 3-34-29, while Drag2Zero rider Vicky Gill clocked 4-00-38 for the women’s win.

In Northumberland Gemma Frost (Team Swift) and Graham Crammond (Physiohaus) were fastest female and male riders in the Gosforth Road Club 25 near Stamfordham on Sunday.

Crammond’s time of 57-11 was 17 seconds quicker than runner-up Lewis Timmins (Team Swift), while Frost clocked 1-03-45.

And in Nottinghamshire Adam Duggleby took the win while Karen Ledger broke the women’s course record in the Mapperley CC 10 on Saturday.

Duggleby clocked 18-56 to beat Matt Bottrill (Team Bottrill) into second, while Ace Test Team rider Ledger’s new course record time was 21-25.
