With just two weeks to go before the first round of the Knight Composites Classic Time Trial Series, riders across the country are stepping up their preparations.

More than 20 events are scheduled to take place this weekend – weather permitting – with  healthy entries in events from Devon up to Northumberland and across into Wales.

Former national 25, 50 and 100-mile champion Ryan Perry (Drag2zero) is in action twice this weekend, having entered the West Pennine Road Club’s hilly 10-mile event at Knowle Green in Lancashire.

And then just down the road the following day is the Lancaster CC hilly 21-mile event at Caton, again with Perry on the startsheet.

Also on the startsheet for Saturday’s West Pennine RC event is Anna Weaver, the former World Duathlon bronze medallist and European Triathlon medallist who was fastest female at the Manchester and District TTA 10 last weekend.

Sunday’s Lancaster CC has also attracted a good entry of women, with Carol Westmorland (Border City Wheelers) and Claire Swoboda (VC St Raphael) down to ride.

Dean Robson.

Dean Robson (Northover VT-Rudy Project) is last man off in the Western TTA 31-mile event in Wiltshire while David Janes, the Wheels of Dorset rider who was victorious in last weekend’s Gillingham and District Hardriders 19-mile time trial, could challenge him.

The women’s entry includes Kate Mactear, the 24-year-old from Bristol who is the reigning European Under-25 Triathlon Champion.

In Essex, Colin Ward (Essex Roads CC) is last man off in a field of 80 riders for the Chelmer CC 25 near Finchingfield, while James Hayden (Rapha CC) will also challenge.

Matt Langworthy (Saint Piran) is switching from road racing to time trialling on Sunday for the Tavistock Wheelers sporting 25-mile time trial in Devon on Sunday.

With a personal best of 48-01, Langworthy is the man to beat, while there are 12 women entered including Team Breeze rider Lauren Dolan who was fastest female in the St Austell Wheelers sporting 20.7-mile event a fortnight ago.

The Knight Composites Classic Time Trial Series begins on Good Friday, March 30, and continues with another five rounds of top class action at events across the country over the coming months.
