It makes a change, no National Championship this weekend. After three title races on the trot. We have a week to go before the National 100-mile Championship so it’s a bit quieter this Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday’s Merthyr CC event looks promising with newly crowned Women’s 50-mile Champion Kate Allan (Drag2Zero) riding. Stuart Travis (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire), Jon Surtees (SSLL RT), Conrad Moss (Mid Devon CC) and Chris Massey (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire) also ride.

Witham Valley Wheelers `25` includes Matt Sinclair (Lutterworth Cycle Centre), Ian Dalton (Cherry Valley), Geoff Platts (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire) and Richard Sharp (York Cycleworks) while the  Fenland Clarion event features David Langlands (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire).

The Yorkshire CF `50` has Stephen Irwin (North Lancs RC), Joel Wainman (SSLL RT), Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC), Richard Bickley (Border City Wheelers), the GS Metro’s Carl Donaldson and Danny Grieves and Karen Taylor (Vertex Biemme RT) listed. GS Metro’s Donaldson, Grieves and Zeb  Kyffin head the field for the Barnesbury CC 3-up on Sunday.

Rob Pears (Bath CC) and Dean Robson (Northover Vets-Rudy Project) battle it out in the Somer Valley CC Hardriders `19` while Shaun Tyson defends his club’s honour in the Adept Precision RT 17.2-mile event. Helen McKay (Les Filles RT) is the leading woman in the Redhill CC `14.1-mile time trial.

A couple of `50s` to finish with, Mark Arnold (CC Desiragear), Ross and Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon CT) go for the Finsbury Park CC promotion while Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC), Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow & District Wheelers) and Charles Mitchell (a3crg) choose the Blazing Saddles event.
