CYCLING TIME TRIALS ARE EXTREMELY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE A MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH KNIGHT COMPOSITES
INCLUDING SPONSORSHIP OF THE CLASSIC SERIES.

The CTT has made a formal partnership with US based wheel manufacturer, Knight Composites, that allows members to take advantage of deeply discounted pricing on full carbon wheels that are engineered with speed and stiffness at the heart of their design, thanks to Knight’s proprietary Trailing Edge Aerodynamic Manipulation or ‘TEAM’ Technology. Knight CEO and Sheffield native, Beverly Lucas, had an opportunity to meet Sheila Hardy, the CTT’s National Chairman at the recent Champion’s Evening, and the two women were very enthusiastic to exchange ideas about working together to grow participation in time trialling across the UK. As a result, Lucas also agreed to sponsor the Classic Series in anticipation of bringing more cyclists to the sport to chase the top prize of a wheelset for each overall category winner.

Of the new partnership, Sheila Hardy said “The CTT are delighted to join forces with Knight Composites as partners and as sponsors of the National Classic Series. Beverly is a great ambassador for the CTT and, like so many of us, cycling in the UK having cut her teeth in local club time trials.  We look forward to working with her in the coming months and years to help grow participation in time trials across the country.”

The Knight Composites Classic TT Series is a points based competition held on sporting courses, this year in the South, Manchester, Midland, Scotland, North and London North Districts. In the series there are six events, with points awarded and each rider’s best four events accounted to their total. The rider with the highest points is the winner. There is a total of nine categories, men, women, espoirs, juniors, paracyclists, veterans (actual), veterans (target), women veterans plus a team award, with Knight wheelsets being awarded as prizes for each overall category winner.

About Knight Composites

With impressive histories in the global bicycle industry and specifically composites, Knight Composites was conceived in the summer of 2013 by bicycle industry veterans Jim Pfeil, Beverly Lucas and Kevin Quan, with the goal of producing a faster, stronger and safer wheel than was currently available on the market. Working alongside the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies, their efforts have resulted in a new generation of super-fast, stealth wheel designs that have taken construction and safety standards to a whole new level, all of which is underwritten by a manufacturing team enlisting brains, engineering, technology, and personality from all over the world. Knight offer a total of 10 wheelsets in their current road and off-road product line, with cockpit components already in the pipeline for late Spring.

About Cycling Time Trials

Cycling Time Trials is the National Governing Body for time trials in England, Scotland and Wales. There are 23 Districts and all provide a variety of events, from short hill climbs to 24 hour events and even on closed motor racing circuits. There are over 1600 open events advertised in the handbook and on the website in 2017. To ride in any of them you need to be a member of a club affiliated to Cycling Time Trials, which can be found from the “discover” tab on the homepage of the website. There are at least that number again of "Club Events" (which are generally not advertised) and if you approach the club promoting one of them you could get a ride on a "come and try it" basis.
