After the individual 10, 25 and 50-mile RTTC championships the focus switches to teams this weekend when API-Metrow-Silverhook Chemicals promote the Team Time Trial championship at Sawston, Cambridgeshire, on Sunday.
Event secretary Chris Worsfold has 32 teams listed including Team I-Ride’s Matt Bottrill, Geoff Platts and Julian Ramsbottom, last year’s winning trio when riding under the De Rosa banner.
Arctic-Premier RT, silver medallists in 2008, field Danny Axford, David McGraw and Darren Barclay, who replaces Tim Bayley, third man last year.
Out to challenge the 2008 medal winners are the powerful Shorter Rochford RT squad of Charles McCulloch, Mark Holton and Adam Duggleby, who also have a pretty strong `B` team with Bill Moore, Michael Broadwith and Stuart Dangerfield.
Others likely to be up for medals include Phil Corley Cycles-Alpha RC’s Simon Gaywood, Matthew Higgins and Chris McNamara; the VC St Raphael’s Rowan Horner, Mick St Ledger and Phil Sykes and Lyme RC’s Will Corden, Barry Charlton and Paul Robinson.
If you are going out to watch you will need an early morning call, the first team is off at 6.03am from the A1307, 3.5 miles from the event headquarters at Sawston Village College.
Defending champions are last away at 7.36am and prize giving is scheduled for 10.15am when former pro, team mate of Jacques Anquetil ,Vin Denson will do the honours.
